New Hanover County in North Carolina is a coastal county with, as with every community, a unique set of threats that hit their geographical location. The county consists of water and wetlands area. In terms of topography, it is fairly even with the average level being forty feet above sea level and the high point of the county being seventy-five feet above sea level. The county does lie within the coastal plains, but nearly 42-percent of the county’s land is wooded area.
