But for Natalie’s effort in the group work is poor since the beginning of the term. So, her lack of effort in helping the work done might be the choice she sorted to do so at the beginning. By judging this approach, is it fair for the slacking off student getting the same grades to who put their efforts in and has to redo the work who is not really helping the work? The answer to this question would be simple; Natalie should not receive the same grade as to the others. It would not be fair for his team to pick up slack and the slacking off student gets the same grades as his teammates. However, if Greg applies this ethical standard, the consequence that Greg has to face is that Greg possibly jeopardizes his friendship with Natalie due to Natalie’s cumulative GPA drops badly. Based on the value to judge Natalie, it is best to protect and respect the rights of others because she could have chosen this path since the beginning of freshman year. Plus, it is her own choices to choose the path that she leads by herself, but just not to be injured that involves me in. Particularly, the relationship between both of us would stay the same and she would be able to complete her goal which might be her last hope of graduation with a good grade.
As of the ethical standards based on Five Approaches to Ethical Standards above, the justice approach would be the best for Greg to use to confront with Natalie. While Greg gives the grade that Natalie deserves, it is best for his team to be graded fairly based on their hard working and Professor does not want to grade someone to pass who does not deserve to.
