While searching for software programs that would be suitable for the needs of Advantage Sign and Graphic solutions, two were found that would improve the efficiency and productivity of the company. Those two software recommendations that were discovered were BizSlate and Deskera.
BizSlate is a cloud based inventory and order management solution that is geared towards small to medium sized businesses. First, if a mistake is entered into the system, BizSlate makes it almost impossible to change that error without having to enter all the information repeatedly. Second, Bizslate operates solely as an inventory management system and does not have the full functionality of an ERP. Advantage would have to use their current HRM systems for payroll and personnel as BizSlate offers very few upgrades and add-ons. Advantage requires an integrated system across all of their business processes as they continue to scale and organize.
Advantage is a value-added reseller. Their primary business is distribution, as well as customer service, representing the “value-added” portion through making the buying process easier for customers. Therefore, we chose not to select an ERP system specific to the graphic design industry, as Advantage does not manufacture signs. Rather, they sell products involved in the manufacturing process to smaller sign and graphic stores. The two main focuses of an ideal ERP system for Advantage are inventory management and customer service

However, looking back on the case, BBI Inc. could have made some crucial changes to their pre-implementation strategy which could have saved them from traveling down a road that would incur approximately $8,000,000 in losses before remedial actions took place. Some of the most common problems with implementing ERP system include vendor and risk management, as well as the lack of formal processes for assessing risks by the project manager (Chen, Law, & Yang, 2009).
