Carved Drips: A Short Story

Decent Essays
She didn't say don't and she didn't say please
Plagued by the past, she's brought to her knees
Trapped within the skin that held her down
Only her breath could escape past her defeated frown
Help was a word she refused to say
Help was a wish she made every day
She searched for strength in things that were dark
Carved secrets that fade but leave their mark
She knew where pain self inflicted could lead
Her expression twists from grief as she starts to bleed
She pictures the blood as she closes her eyes
Drips from her wounds took the place of her cries
With the kiss of peace from a blade, she rests on the floor
Embracing the pain that passes, then rises for more
She slipped away from all the demons she faced
The crimson she drew was all she could

Day 1: The Blake forest is une of the most beautiful things I've seen. My friends and I were camping for the winter break before entering college, we thought we were going to have fun but that was our mistake. While The Odyssey might, upon first glance, involve godly intervention against humans to advance its plot, the true conflict that drives the whole story is the selfish and arrogant nature of men against other men. The human-on-human conflict is the very cause of all the other three classical conflicts, as a conflict between humans often escalates to a conflict against the Greek gods, a war against oneself, and finally a war against the powerful forces of nature. Human arrogance and pride are the sole causes of the situations that the characters, both mortal and immortal, face in The Odyssey. The human-on-human conflict in The Odyssey is the driving factor behind godly intervention, which means that a conflict involving humans and gods is, in…

In Spoon River Anthology by Edgar Lee Masters, each of the people from Fiddler Jones to Mrs. Reece all believed that they had one life to live. For certain people, this caused their lives to be better, as they didn’t want to spend it all in regret. For others, this belief caused them deep regret, and they felt as though they had wasted everything they had. They were too afraid to live, they never did. Expecting the unforeseen also played quite a bit in whether their life was good or bad.…
