The American automobile industry has been around since the late 1800 's and has faced many environmental challenges, though competition, technology, effect on the environment, and economic inpact. The first car was not invented in the United States, so global competition has always been a large factor. Henry Ford revolutionized the automobile industry when he developed the assembly line, there have been various evolutions in the car industry.
