Carrie Underwood: From Oklahoma Farmgirl to Worldwide Humanitarian At the age of 22, Carrie Underwood became known for debuting one of the fastest-selling country albums according to Nielsen SoundScan, a system that tracks music sales (“Carrie Underwood.”). Carrie started off as a normal young girl from Oklahoma who happened to win Season 4 of American Idol. Ever since then, she has continued with her career in music, grabbing several Grammys, Country Music Association Awards, and other similar recognition awards on the way (“Carrie Underwood.”). She often speaks out about various dilemmas that occur all around the world through her music, and she pushes to inspire people to give to others through her own acts of kindness. Through her success and fortune, Carrie Underwood has been able to give back to a variety of different communities around the world. …show more content…
One specific fan spoke out about how the song reminded her of her father who was a veteran and passed away, and the singer, whose heart was filled with sympathy, responded to this by saying, “‘...they knew that the most important man in their lives was looking down on them and waiting for them. I was honored to know that hearing it in my song solidified that belief a little more’” (“Carrie Underwood: Taking a Stand for Veterans.”).
