Our speaker for the week was Carrie Morris and she spoke about school counseling. The overview of the presentation was about: what school counselors do, what model they follow, and what becoming a school counselor is about. School counselors do not just focus on children that are facing crises but “they help ALL students in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development and career development.” They design, implement and evaluate school counseling programs that will benefit student success. All counselors are held to honor an ethical code and standards (counselor and client privilege), which includes confidentiality to a certain extent. Cases, where this rule can be broken, are when there are concerns of harm to oneself or another
