Carrie Fisher, with at least 41 movies under her belt, Princess Leia being her crowning glory and most memorable, wrote in her play ‘Wishful Drinking’ that “no matter how I go, I want it reported that I drowned in moonlight, strangled by my own bra.” This perfectly outlines the person she was; funny and kind-hearted. While acting may have been her most publicized occupation, that is not all we have to admire her for. She was a talented novel and play-write, her most recent novel published only 5 weeks before her tragic death, detailing her years during the filming of Star Wars. She was an incredible activist, using her star power to further women's, animal and LGBTQIA+ rights, contributing financially to various AIDS and HIV organizations.
