Carrie Aphorism Morrie Analysis

Decent Essays
Love is a powerful thing. It can be expressed in different ways. Family, girlfriend, friend; it’s all love. Morrie mentions himself that “Love always wins.” The open mind is capable of receiving the broad concept of love but it can come across difficult to acquire by some. Morrie shows his personality on a wide span of topics. I came across this specific aphorism and I one-hundred percent agree with it. Love is a beautiful expression and it should be spread throughout the world. If I didn’t have love in my heart I wouldn’t be the person I am today. Plenty of people can say that themselves but any can’t as well. It’s difficult to understand why a person would want to life their live alone and treat others with disrespect and no dignity and

The idea behind my project is to show how the aphorisms were always running through Morrie's mind. I drew a silhouette of Morrie and filled it with aphorisms that stood out to me. I did this to show that Morrie, himself, came up with these aphorisms, and not someone else. Morrie used the aphorisms to teach and get a point across in a way that is easy to understand. My project is another tool to help get Morrie's many messages read.…

In Mitch Albom’s book Tuesdays with Morrie, the author quotes his old professor Morrie Schwartz: “Only an open heart will allow you to float equally between everyone.” (128) What Morrie said in this quote, really opened up my eyes to see the world how it really is. As I look around the world today, I see people who think they are the highest of them all in the social stance. Whether because their famous, rich, or for another reason, they think they are better.…

Let me start off by defining what an aphorism is, an aphorism is a true statement intended to share a universal truth (Google.com). In Tuesdays With Morrie, Morrie was a professor who was diagnosed with ALS. This is a terminal disease that attacks a person 's nervous system, slowly making parts of the victim 's body inoperable. While he is dying, an old student of his, Mitch, visits Morrie every Tuesday. Morrie shares a lot of aphorisms with him that taught Mitch Albom, and myself, how to live a better life.…

Humans have always looked for the answer to finding happiness in life. For the majority of people, they believe that love will bring them this sense of happiness. In Barbara Fredrickson’s, “Selections from Love 2.0: How Our Supreme Emotion Affects Everything We Feel, Think, Do and Become,” she talks about how we see love in the wrong way and that we should start looking at love the way the body sees it. This change in perception of the definition of love allows people to have a better chance of obtaining love and having a better sense of self. With the conventional notions of love and relationships, love becomes more complex by giving people the sense of longing.…

While it has been established why those who are in active search for love are in reality looking for a false perception of love, it is interesting to note the attitudes toward people who actively attempt to avoid being wounded by love. Guigemar showed indifference toward love, and while this is because he was aware that he had not yet been truly wounded by love, “He showed no visible interest in love and thus was considered a lost cause by friend and stranger alike” (Marie de France 44). This attitude expressed toward Guigemar by his public reveals the necessity of love. Those who conduct themselves as if love is not needed are viewed as leading fruitless and barren existences. There is a disdain towards those we perceive as unwilling to bear weakness for something other than oneself.…

Love is expressed in ways that seem backwards and twisted. Love is shown by never leaving each other when the going gets rough. Love is supporting and caring for one another. While the topic of love is almost too broad to begin to talk about, the effect that love has on the relationships of the characters of Beloved is a good place to start. Love is the motivation behind almost all of these people: behind the act of Sethe murdering her child, behind Paul D, and behind Denver.…

Love, according to Webster, is “a strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties.”. For some, this definition of love expresses the way people develop a mutual understanding of one another to attain a level many are unable to reach. Others may believe love can happen by the chance of a glimpse and bind them together by that unknown force without any preceding knowledge of the person. In The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, the “Knight's Tale” shows that love is greater than any other power. Chaucer composed the tale to convey the idea that love brings about unforeseen outcomes.…
