How My Carpet Came to be

While walking to the trash can, the tissue suddenly went up in flames. The smoke wafted up to my nose, and to the back of my throat and it had the welcoming aroma of roasting marshmallow and the raspy taste of burnt toast. "Ah!!!" I cried out in shock. Before we get to that, let's start from the beginning of the story.
One thing I wasn't expecting on this cold winter evening, was action. All I wanted to do was finish my work and relax. I streamlined to the basement guest room so I could work in a confined space. As a kid, focusing for extended periods of time was challenging. Entertainment

The aroma of roasting marshmallows greeted me followed by the raspy taste of burnt toast. My skin felt the burning sensation and I streaked across the basement to the washroom across from the room. "Got to put this out," I muttered while I sprinted across the basement. I whipped the tissue into the sink and quickly doused the flame with a quick dose of water. I sighed with relief as the flame went out and I picked up the tissue. There was an enormous hole in the tissue, which took up almost the whole thing. I dashed to the blaze and snuffed out the flame from the flaming tissue on the carpet and furiously stomped on the carpet to put it out. "Why do these things only happen to me!!!" I wailed. I had a sudden thought that nearly gave me a heart attack, what would happen when my mom found out? What would happen to me? As if on cue, my mom suddenly began coming down the creaky steps. Just as my mom came down, I stomped out the last spark and I stood on the ruined carpet.
"Do you know what that funky smell is?" she asked, probably referring to the melted carpet
