The author learned about the savage killing over social media and decided to investigate the story and little bit further. He traveled to a village near San Juan Sacatepéquez, to speak to the locals in the area regarding the two boy’s murders. He learned that even though the killings were barbaric the small community of Guatemala were able to unite in their grief and lean on one another for love and support. The two-young boys were neighbors and schoolmates. The funeral for the two boys was held in Oscar’s family home. Over 2,000 people attended the memorial service, located at the boy’s elementary school. With two innocent children dyeing while walking to school, this incident has really shaken up the small city of Guatemala. Even though the children were both from different families, they were both in buried side by side. The community believe since the children die together, they will remain together in death.

If trials actually did this, competency evaluations would be superfluous. Since society is not preparing to avenge the crime, there would be nothing egregiously unfair about going straight to trial. In reality, Tortorici’s trial was a moral one. Although the prosecution acknowledged Tortorici’s overt mental illness, they emphasized that the jurors must consider whether he was legally insane, arguing that: “The issue is not whether Ralph Tortorici is crazy, insane ……

Department of State official, this article is very much unbiased, as it is a report from an outside source from Guatemala. The account describes how the kidnappings in the country were mostly carried out by Guatemala’s government in order to interrogate the victims, mostly male Indians, about their actions and kill them later. However, the U.S. State Department had admitted in the statement that they did not have very accurate data on Guatemala’s human rights conditions. The information gathered may not be credible; nevertheless, an outside viewpoint of the situations in Guatemala is still helpful with its unprejudiced…
