Carol Of The Bells Analysis

"Oh! How they pound, Raising the sound, O'er hill and dale, Telling their tale. Gaily they ring while people sing songs of good cheer, Christmas is here." Carol Of the Bells was the best song sung at the recent West Point junior high concert because they had good diction, they sang all of the correct notes, and they kept their eyes on the conductor.

First of all, Carol of the Bells was sung by West Point Junior Highs Madrigals. When they sung it, they had very good diction. You could hear every word that they said loud and clear, and it sounded amazing a Capella. When you sing a song, it is nice to have good diction. If not, then it would be a bunch of mumbles, which isn't very pleasant.

Next, the Madrigals sang the correct notes. This

I selected Roar by Katy Perry because I strongly believe that it carries a meaning that is crucial to everyone’s lives. A line from the song that shows how she feels about the situation is, “You hear my voice, your hear that sound Like thunder, gonna shake the ground”. I wanted to show to my classmates that being heard is something that builds integrity and overall is something that more people must do.…

The nineteenth century, the Romantic era of music composition, saw the rise of programmatic music, or music designed to convey a specific story, theme, character, or idea—without any voices. Programmatic music was a stark departure from the prioritization of emfindsamkeit in the Classical era, which had in turn signified a break from the Doctrine of Affections of the Baroque era. While “emfindsamkeit” in classical music referred to the value of music for its own sake, rather than trying to convey a certain emotion or affection, many nineteenth-century composers chose programmatic genres as means of sharing stories or values, like nationalism, folklore, or ancient history. One programmatic genre is the concert overture, a single-movement piece…

Lullabies for Little Criminals by Heather O’Neill tells the story of a young girl named Baby with little fortune and a young drug addicted father. Grown accustomed to the constant changes in her living situations and long periods of loneliness, Baby finds herself lacking affection when the other half of her two-person family goes to rehab. This launches her on a quest to find love. Throughout her protagonist’s expedition, O’Neill directly criticizes social institutions by displaying their failure in providing Baby with the affection she seeks and indirectly criticizes them by contrasting them to a family’s ability to provide affection.…

Christmas is a Christian celebration of the birth of Christ, though it also encompasses Greek, Roman and pagan traditions of giving gifts and feasting around the Winter Solstice. It is a time when families and friends come together to share food and exchange gifts (web). In How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss and A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, the main characters, the Grinch and Ebenezer Scrooge, are similar to each other in many ways such as their awful personality. The Grinch is a green hairy who is very greedy, stingy, and a little evil creature. He wants nothing to do with the Whos, hates Christmas, and wants the Who 's Christmas spirit to be gone.…

Medieval Christmas (Intro) Most holidays during the medieval period were determined by the Church including Christmas. Christmas in medieval England was very different to modern day Christmas. It was the church that ensured that it was celebrated as s true religious holiday instead of just being a simple feast for peasants to enjoy themselves. Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele or “Adorn yourself, O dear soul” is a chorale cantata written by Johann Sebastian Bach. A chorale cantata is a church cantata that’s based on both the melody and text of a single hymn. The cantata is based on the Lutheran chorale tune by Johann Crüger, Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele. Bach composed this specific one in his second annual cycle of writing cantatas, also known as, Jabrgang II. It was written for the twentieth day after Trinity, on October 22, 1724.…

Partita no.4 in D major, BWV 828 The fourth partita, whose original title page was dated 1728, is the most splendid of the partitas. Three or four movements – the overture, courante, gigue and perhaps the minuet – evoke orchestral style, but the remainder are intimate and highly expressive. The overture is of the same type found in the orchestral suites of Bach.…

As I spent the evening perusing for the Christmas songs, I landed in the trap remixes of Christmas music. Although I enjoyed plenty and even discovered a good playlist on Spotify, I still had to settle with what I consider a classic: Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee. Plenty of songs cause me to feel the Christmas Spirit, but that song in particular makes me remember elementary school. Since my household is relatively scarce of Christmas music or decorations, I didn’t feel the Christmas season until I entered elementary school. The center of the school was a large display of a Christmas tree and several other decorations.…

The Romantic Period lasted from 1785-1832. During this time, the Democratic Revolution in France launched, which was the French Revolution. This revolution caused and shaped the Romantic period to be political, social, and economic with all three drastic changes. During the Romantic Period, many authors wrote poems, with a lot of emotion of love, passion and strong messages that we can now relate with in this livelihood. The two works I selected to work with caught my attention because both poems showed a lot of suspense and were similar in various ways.…

Carols originated in Europe as pagan songs sung by at Winter solstice celebrations. The word carol itself means song of praise or dance, or singing of joy. Carols at one time were written for all season and times, but the tradition of singing them at Christmas has remained. Christians took over these pagan celebrations and made up their own Christian songs to sing as a substitute. Yet these first carols were all written, and sung in Latin.…

The Hymn to the Aten is a poem written by pharaoh Amenhotep IV who, around 1346 BC in Egypt, created a monotheistic kingdom worshipping the god Aten, god of the sun disk. Amenhotep’s poem is one of praise for Aten as he claims that the god has created life for all and everything that exists on Earth, making him superior to all the other gods. The sun is a very powerful object as it not only provides light to the world but it is also a mean of survival. It appears odd that ruler Amenhotep would pronounce Aten, the god of the sun disk as the supposed supreme god and not Ra, the Egyptian god of the sun.…

Through time, several historical events have been represented by the principles of hatred, crime and inhumanity. History has told us that hatred and inhumanity comes in many shapes, whether it is due to skin colour, religion or even political persuasions. Furthermore it has told us that it easily evolves into something horrifying. But most importantly history tells us that no hatred or crime are so big that we as human beings can’t cope with it and change it for the better. In the column “In Ireland, Tuesdays Grace” Bono describes the horrifying events that took place on January 30, 1972, a day better known as “Bloody Sunday”.…
