One good example of literature to find ones independent is Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom. This is a true story of two men one in his thirties named Mitch, and the other much older named Morrie. Mitch was a student of Morrie’s in the late 1970’s. This story is about a relationship between teacher and student during the time of near death and the teacher last lessons. Morrie has many characteristics that lead to self-actualization. One example is capable of deep appreciation of basic life-experience. He does not think about things matter anymore but he gives the understanding that funding a relation between another person with love, affection, and compassion is the important thing in this life. When Morrie says, “I’ve got so many people who have been involved with me, in close intimate ways. And love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone”(Albom, 133). In other words, Morrie’s adopted a culture that is the intimate people involved in Morrie’s life. Love going on after you die conjures the idea that the memories and feelings you leave behind with others will influence the culture you built and the culture at large. Like Morrie, I want the friends I leave behind share in the happiness I have found and the joy I helped create. Morrie had are a state of being and self-awareness. He knows that material things are not as important when sharing a memory with someone
