I chose to interview Carl Isaacson. Carl is in his late twenties and has done lots of traveling and exploring. In fact, he has traveled to 15 countries not including the U.S. He works as a professor of environmental studies at Bemiji State University in Bemiji, Minnesota. Right now Carl and his colleagues are researching ways to prevent Minnesota lakes from becoming polluted with fertilizers from nearby fields. Considering all of this I decided that he would be a great person to interview. Carl's theory for approaching a new place is to simply go and do it. He doesn't plan a lot, and when he does plan He doesn't depend solely on his plan. Once when he was living in China he wanted to go see the Great Wall. It took him three tries to make it there; once it was raining, and another time he went to a part that wasn't open. Eventually he made it to the Great Wall. On the days that he didn't make it to the Great Wall it didn't bother him because Carl doesn't depend on a set plan so he just did something else instead. Be flexible! …show more content…
When Carl goes to a new place the first thing he does is explore and get a good idea of the local culture. Understanding where you are helps relieve some of the stress of traveling. I asked Carl if he ventures into the unknown, and his response was "all the time". He said that everyone is always venturing into the unknown. Anytime you try something that you have never done before you are in the unknown. You don't have to travel a lot or even do scary things all the time. Going into the unknown can be as simple as exploring part of your back yard that you have never seen before. Doing the unknown as a child I think helps people become better at thinking outside of the box as adults. I believe that every child should get the opportunity to explore the unknown in a positive

Though I knew most of what she told me it was still nice to just sit and talk about her life experiences. My mother was born to older parents and was the youngest of three children.…
