A search of the main sources of scientific papers (SciELO, PubMed, MEDLINE and the Cochrane Library) used as inclusion criteria: papers published in English during a 10 year period (2003-2013), containing any type of questions put to caries risk assessment in children. The following key words were used: caries risk assessment, dental caries, dental decay, risk factors, and caries predictors in children. The time period was chosen on account of the intention to include the most recent work and a decade is probably sufficient to detect any trends in professionals’
