Cariboo City Council enforced an ordinance to try to combat obesity by banning the sale of beverages, containing high fructose corn syrup in cups over 16 oz. in all establishments located more than one mile away from the freeway. In order for the ordinance to be approved, two public hearings must take place. The ordinance faced many opposition by the residents in the public hearing but no changes were made when the regulation went into effect. The council failed to include citizens into the decision for the ordinance. If the council have given consideration and included the citizens then the ordinance it may have been accepted citizens. Due to the failure of including of the publics decision, the law is in favor of the businesses not the Board
