Careful Confrontation Summary

Chapter four is called Inviting change: Careful Confrontation. In this chapter, the author talk about how a confrontation with another can be uncomfortable, but sometimes confrontation is necessary in order to rework and fix relationships. To give effective feedback to another is to offer the max amount of information and to minimize the threat to the receiver. Author goes on to further address that you must be gentle, respectful, and clear when you are confronting another about a particular problem or situation. The next chapter is called “Giving trust: A Two-Way Venture of Faith and Risk”. In this chapter, the author describes how basic trust is the primal learning tool for everyone, and that trust is the center of all human relationships. Trust can come in different shape and forms like the trust between two people in a serious relationship is different than the trust between a parent and their child. It is important to remember that the trust between two people can be easily broken, and it is often very difficult to fix afterward. The Bible passage relates well with confrontation by showing that trust and caring in your relationship can outlast any kind of problem and circumstance. In the bible, it said that even if you argue or disagree, you should still love one another. Love knows no limits, and it shouldn’t stop because of a confrontation.
