Career Tech Narrative

Until I was in the 10th grade I was confused and lost when it came to choosing a career. It worried me because all my friends knew what they wanted to be. I heard them tell me they wanted to be pharmacists, teachers, nurses, welders, oil field workers, and even FBI agents. All my friends had been motivated at a young age but not me. See, I moved from house to house and state to state like a wildfire. We went from Georgia to Mississippi to Alabama which meant that I changed schools with each move. I never really got settled in enough to ever get motivated. That all changed once we moved to Alabama. I was enrolled in a Career Tech Center in the field of Industrial Automation.
So, once my family found a small and comfortable town that we wanted to stay in, we bought a house. I started school being nervous and scared of what was ahead. Last year, on the first day of my sophomore year I was talking to my counselor trying to work out my schedule. I had one extra spot for an elective class. She suggested going to the Career Tech School for a class. "Is there a field that interests you enough that you might want to take at the career tech center?" she asked questionably. "Well, I'm good at computers and such but I never really thought to pursue a career in it?" I said reluctantly. Well I let her pick what she thought would be

Brooks. She spoke softly and was small. So I thought to myself, "With such a petite and tiny woman as a teacher the class can't be too hard... Right?” Wrong. This class was tough. It challenged parts of my brain that I didn't know existed. We learned things from binary code to construction concepts.
