My essay is going to be over my career choice in Healthcare Administration, which includes the job demand, education, skill set, personality traits needed to obtain a Master’s degree. I will also discuss my short, intermediate and long term goals and where I see myself in the future.
My overview of my career in Healthcare Administration starts with it being one of the most often-overlooked job at times. Most people think of doctors, nurses, and surgeons when they come to a hospital, but behind the scenes it is managers and directors keeping the hospital working and flowing as it should, keeping it profitable and up to date on policies. This is also a career that has one of the strongest growth outlooks in the next ten years. The reasons being aging population and the demands on healthcare that this causes. With this growth, there will be a demand on more administrators to help run physician offices and hospitals, but this growth does not just include administrators, it involves home health aides, sonographers and therapists. Salary for an administrator is $96,000 annually with a master degree. This will not happen right away of course but someone with one to two years’ experience can make around $60,000 and go up with more experience. (Health Administration Degrees, 2010-2017). There is one area in general where you need to go further to become an administrator and that is with the nursing home facilities.
