Career Goals Of A Career As A Clinical Psychologist

In the future, a career goal of mine is to become a clinical psychologist. At this point, I may be interested in specializing in adolescent or child psychology or studying general clinical psychology. Regardless of which route I choose, further education is needed. Although this is the case, a bachelor’s degree from Concordia University Nebraska in psychology and behavioral science will help facilitate a basic understanding and education of the field of psychology. A degree from Concordia also offers a liberal arts education, which makes a future professional in any field more well rounded and suited for the challenges of everyday life. The full-time position requires the clinical psychologist to act as part of the patient care team and identify psychological, emotional, and behavioral issues. They are then required to diagnose disorders, and build strong rapport with clients in order to make accurate assessments of their problems. Along with working with the patient, one must collaborate with a care team, other clinicians, counselors, and nurses to develop and manage care plans of patients. One must also be able to evaluate treatment plans and patient progress and keep detailed records of each patient during their course of treatment. The minimum requires to be considered as an applicant are a doctoral degree in psychology, state of New Hampshire psychology license, and two years of supervised clinical …show more content…
This organizations mission is to strengthen the health of their community by providing accessible, compassionate, quality healthcare. Listed with their mission statement is a list of core values held by Cottage Hospital. They are as follows: compassionate care, excellence, integrity, innovation, teamwork, fiscal accountability, and responsibility. In order to apply for this position, one must fill out the online application. This will require a resume (See Attachment D) with an interview to follow (See Attachment E). I feel that an interview at Cottage Hospital would be very thorough. One would be responsible for many tasks involved with patient care and those conducting the interview would want to make sure the applicant is able to provide excellent care along with their ideals aligning with the organization’s mission statement.
