Reflective Essay: The Key To Successful Group Projects

Improved Essays
If I were given the challenge to take on a project like we received in our group project. I would have to say I would be up for the challenge. The key to a successful project is the team that you have working with you. If you don’t have everyone clicking on all cylinders you won’t get anywhere with your project. One bad cylinder could ruin the all whole project. Luckily with this class, I had a good group that clicked on all cylinders. From my experience in being other groups that don’t click, it doesn’t end well. Most of the time you end up picking up the other person 's work to do and it the whole project just seems to be a big rush.

I’m debating if I want to get my master’s degree. I feel I should get my master’s degree because that will open more doors for my career in the future. The other hand is that do I want to do two more years of college. Also, in 5 years I see myself moved out of Jacksonville living somewhere on the west coast maybe in California working for a big tech company. I think I would really enjoy working for a big tech company like Apple, Google or maybe an upcoming …show more content…
I believe I am more of a follower than a doer in this case. Also, I would really enjoy working for a company that is doing projects using the cloud. The cloud is the future of the way we doing anything on the internet. If you think about more people have cell phones than computers.

I do think the capstone course did lack a few things. I really enjoy taking the online test and this course had none of that. The online test helps me in knowing what’s right from wrong. Having the tests make you look through the book for the answers so that entails more reading that helps you prepare for your final. Also, getting the feedback from your professor if your answer is right or wrong lets you know what you need to study up on.

The course really could have had discussion board topics. I think having the discussion board gets your mind thinking. Doing the discussion boards you get a different point of view from other students. It really makes you think out of the box and it’s always good to get feedback from students on what you wrote. Also, replying to other discussion boards gets your mind thinking about what you just wrote and was it right or

In the 2007 Douglas Downs and Wardle article, "Teaching about Writing, Righting Misconceptions, the focus is on the topic of how to operate a successful first year college writing class. First, what worked well was how our group integrated our individual skills together to complete the project. When we introduced ourselves and what our concentrations were, it was easy to determine what roles and responsibilities we would take on. We worked individually on our tasks before meeting together and integrating everything into the final product. The problems that arose primarily concerned communication and scheduling group meetings.…

For me the activity of working as a group especially with other individuals who I have not worked with or talked to before was a good learning experience that had both positive and negative outcomes using Driscoll’s model of reflection as a frame work to elaborate on how I interpreted what happened, what impact the situation had on me and what I will do in the future if presented with a similar situation (Driscoll and Teh, 2001). We were required to do a 10 minute presentation for a health promotion project that we developed. I decided to work with other individuals who I didn’t know and have not worked with before as I believed I would be more productive and respectful if I worked with people I didn’t know very well. For the first tutorial…

I believe this course was very effective for students as it reflects the purpose of every assignment. Every assignment not only helped me to gain knowledge about different topics but also help me understand their meaning and how they reflect in our life. Ex. I never knew what is Emotion & learning was until I was given the assignment. There I found emotion is very muchly involved in our daily learning and it either builds our motivation to learn or could also discourage us to learn.…

The Capstone seminar and project course gave me a wide understanding of the whole MPA program, which include: teamwork, research, writing, analysis, decision making, problem-solving and oral presentations. It helped in providing me as a MPA student with the opportunity to integrate knowledge and skills learned in the MPA program in an applied practical examination of a public administration issue, which was about the factors that impact the U.S 50 states public higher education appropriations.
In all cases, this course has encouraged me to think about finding ways to know how to succeed in learning. I have learned how is it significant to be an active member in a group research.…

Throughout the year, as a class we have been given many different challenges in either the form of an essay, speech, or group presentation. The final assignment given to us was a group project presentation. From growing up in an age filled with technology, I have come to love projects that revolve around making some form of a PowerPoint presentation. This PowerPoint though, was both difficult and interesting for the reasons of being assigned group members not of my own choosing, learning to listen to others ideas which can help me to learn something new, and using former knowledge while working together to create a clean, in depth, and well prepared presentation. With working in groups of students whom I have known since I was young but…

Overall, I was extremely happy with the effort my group put into this project. In terms of attending the group meetings, everyone was present and participated in the discussion. The first meeting took place on a Sunday afternoon at Baruch and the second meeting took place on a weeknight in the form of a Google Hangout. The times and places of these meetings alone displayed every group members’ commitment to the project, effort to accommodate for scheduling conflicts, and effort to ensure they are contributing their fair share to the group regardless the time or day of the week. At these meetings, we discussed ways to engage the crowd and critiqued each other’s slides and presentations.…

Over all this class was great for me I was able to try new things with papers that I never had the chance to do before. Was able to be a lot more creative and think outside of the box and papers, I learned that some things work really well and some stuff I tried did not. Throughout the course, I learned different aspects of project management, and skills that can be used in the everyday life as long as involve interacting with other people. In this class I learned about how to be a better team member. This semester I was reminded of how important communication is and how people need to keep emphasizing it as one of the most important skills any person could possesses. The personality test was useful, I think it gave all of us a good way to start to see how everyone is different. It made it easier for each of us to better understand one another in how our unique personalities can be a challenge when working with others.…

The Power of Collaboration “Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is process, but working together is success” (Henry Ford, Brainy Quotes). Throughout the first couple weeks of college, I expected to figure out everything out on my own without help from anyone else. However as it may be the case in some circumstances, I can surely tell you that classes like English 100Y definitely does not hinder the concept of teamwork or collaboration. Throughout the semester we have been exposed to a variety of group based activities and challenges. These collaborative assignments help benefit the students with the capability to attack challenges in the future whether it be in another class or life itself.…

Introduction In this reflection, I will focus on some important topics such as, what I learned about individual and business taxation from this course, what was my experience with the group project and what were the challenges that I faced during both the group project and this course. I am also going to add some main overall points that I learned. Tax is generally an amount of money that is charged by a government on a product, income, or activity so that it can pay for public services. In addition, there are several very common types of taxes: • Income Tax (a percentage of individual or corporate earnings filed to the government) • Sales Tax (taxes charged on certain goods and services) • Property Tax (taxes charged on the value of land…

But this class changed that. I learned so much and my eyes were open to so many new things. I loved that I was able to take what I had learned in class and be able to apply it in lab and have hands on experiences with the subject we were learning about. This class will benefit me in the near future because this class taught me that I am a hands on learner. I am able to understand topics more thoroughly and learn better if I am able to do it and see it myself.…
