High school was a hard time for me because I didn’t like school at all. My junior and senior year I was home schooled through K12 Online Public School. I wasn’t planning on going to college at all until the middle of my senior year I really started to think about going to college. In May 2012 I applied to go to Sheridan College and was thinking about the Criminal Justice because I was leaning towards being an attorney. I declared my major as Criminal Justice. I started learning a lot about the Criminal Justice field and became very intrigued with Criminal Profiling. I like thinking about a crime and wondering why and who might have committed the crime. There are many duties that come with being a Criminal Profiler. Criminal Profilers go to crime scenes and analyze the crime. They have to read reports from investigators and other analysts. They have to write a lot of reports. Sometimes Criminal Profilers are asked to provide a court testimony. Criminal Profilers work with police officers and detectives. They also have to study human behaviors and characteristics. They also require critical thinking skills, and its very detail-oriented. Criminal Profilers can earn up to 140,000 dollars annually. Some of the negative aspects of a Criminal Profiler can be tensions between law enforcement and detectives. Elaine worked in the Organ State Hospital for 2 years. She has worked with Criminal Profilers before and she worked on a Gang Task Force. She worked with Clinton R. Van Zandt a FBI profiler. Elaine told me that the job is very demanding. A Criminal Profiler has to like doing research. They also have to like working alone because most all of the work is done by yourself. That I would have to also sit in a office most of the day looking for patterns of behavior. Also that it is important to know Thinking Errors Characteristic of the Criminal.
