At first, I was hesitant to approach their booth because they had a line of people that were waiting to talk to the recruiters. However, I decided to take the chance anyway and join the line. The conversation started slow after I presented my elevator speech, however once we started discussing the growth of their company and potential job placement, our conversation was very informative and engaging. They are currently expanding into 3 new cities and are increasing their number of employees by 500 over the next 2 years. I found that compared to past years, I did a much better job of being prepared to have an engaging conversation with a recruiter. I did this by preparing days in advance, by updating my resume, by making sure I had the appropriate attire, and by practicing my elevator speech. The results of my preparation left me with multiple offers to participate in summer leadership programs as well as a couple invitations to apply for internships for this upcoming summer.
