Career Exploration Paper The major I declared is business management and the career path I want to pursue after my undergraduate is a sales representative role. East Carolina University is located in Greenville North Carolina and the business management major falls under the College of Business. The college of business offers five undergraduate degrees with various concentrations adding towards the general business minor. The degree you may pursue to get are: accounting, finance, general business, management (which is most popular), management information systems and marketing and supply chain management. A minor is not required with majoring in business management but most students do minor in something that will complement their specific …show more content…
As said previously the student has to declare in one of the concentrations, accounting, finance, etc. To be admitted you have to had a completed at minimum 45 semester credit hours, a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. In addition to your grade point average you must have completed ACCT 2401; ECON 2113; FINA 2244; MATH 1066; MIS 2223 with a minimum grade of a C. With this major a foreign language course is not required but it would be beneficial if you take a course to sharpen your skills with international positions. With dealing with readmission the student must have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 to be eligible for readmission to the College of Business and also meet the requirements course wise as well. Having an internship is not required but is highly recommended to heighten your resume and role in the business world. Student teaching, volunteer work and senior projects is also not required but volunteer work is always an excellent positive deed you can pursue as well …show more content…
The most common jobs with a bachelor’s degree dealing with business management are sales representatives, sales managers, human resources specialists, financial analysts and management analyst. The common salary with the sales representative role is $37,300- $145,730 per year. With sales representatives the primary responsibilities of this role would be to identify prospective customers solely based on your research that was conducted and business related events. To maintain the records of the customers and to contact new and existing customers to discuss and meet their business needs. Sales representatives also sell retail products, goods and services to various customers, they will work to find new sales through business directories. The working conditions that deal with this role can vary but mainly majority they are traveling between the offices of the particular organizations they work for and their clients. Meanwhile during their visits to each different client they are often working in offices, workshops, shops and other types of businesses homes. The working conditions can be stressful because they need to meet the sales targets. With dealing with the education requirements for this role you have to earn voluntary certification, complete the on job sales training, degree level varies from high school diploma to a bachelor’s degree.
