Career Exploration is very helpful to a career. The earlier we start doing career exploration the faster we will be able to develop our skills. It improves a person’s ability to become informed about their interests and abilities. If we focus on the specific careers in college we will be able to select a major and perhaps will make a better decision in the future. Option C best describes my career path spectrum today because I’m not sure which major to choose or what my career options might be when I graduate.

If I want to choose a major right now, it will be in accounting because there are varied job opportunities opened for accountants. In almost every business an accountant is needed because it maintains a company’s accurate financial statements which helps in determining areas of growth by providing insights on the liquidity crisis, cash flow arrangements and business financing. I am considering applying for co-op because it helps in getting real-world business experience in leading organizations, provide an opportunity to gain appropriate employment skills and build professional relationships.

There are exploration steps that I can take over at Ryerson to guide my career exploration steps. The first step is to list all the different occupation choices that are related to my course. Secondly, I have to narrow my options by doing research about which skills a company want from a person, by doing research I will be able to know which job is most suitable for me.

Career exploration helps a person to become more focused on his future. Every person has strengths and skills, but we have to figure out the right career path that brings together the strengths and interests. By making correct career decisions, a person will be able to lead a happy life because he will be doing the right job which suits his values and
