I dreamed as a kid, like many others, of being a nurse or a doctor when I grew up. I loved the idea of giving shots and wrapping up broken bones. Fixing medical issues seemed cool. After all, there’s an injury, and as a nurse or doctor you have to solve it. Problem solving seemed to be my forte.…
High school athletics have impacted every aspect of my life, including my overall perception of myself. Personally, my entire high school career has been dedicated to cheerleading. Participating in this sport all four years of high school has provided me with opportunities to meet new people and improved leadership skills. I have learned the value of team building, dedication, responsibility, and determination. As I look back on all of the hard work, sweat and tears left on the cheerleading mats, I also recognize those who gave up their time to help me and how that has led me to help others.…
I enjoy working as part of a team because of the shared ideas and interpretations. As a sonographer, I expect to work alongside physicians, nurses, fellow sonographers, and other medical staff to offer patients a comprehensive treatment plan. Observing current sonographers added a valuable perspective to my expectations; they ensured patient comfortability and knew when to either spend extra time scanning or push the scans quickly (i.e. abnormal valve function vs a frustrated toddler).…
I was also enrolled in many different extracurricular activities on top of my studies. As a result, piano, violin, swimming, tennis, key club (in high school), and powerlifting (in January 2016) were all part of my life while growing up and still am. During my life always being compared…
I am currently attending a United States college. I am enrolled in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program. I want to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Sonography. A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is a caregiver who assists in capturing a well detailed picture of the interior of the body with a transducer probe and ultrasound gel to create a picture with the help of sound waves. Furthermore, a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer performs ultrasounds throughout the body.…
I am writing this essay to inform the National Junior Honor Society that I am not only striving to maintain a high GPA and achieve all possible accomplishments, but also becoming a well-rounded individual. I fell that I am striving to do this by being a good leader in all the activities that I am involved in by supporting and motivating all individuals in the group. I strive to be the best I can be in getting all awards I can be eligible for and serving the community the best that I can. I have found a true enjoyment in both Cheerleading and helping younger children while being a mommy’s helper. In cheerleading I have helped the younger cheerleaders by teaching them dance , stunts and also remembering and perfecting their choreography.…
As an athlete, I began my journey in sports full of dedication, fire, and hopeful anticipation of what I could do on the football field and on the basketball court. Much of my life has been devoted to extracurricular activities such as sports and the comelec, which taught me hard lessons in ethics and values that have made me who I am today. I not only represented my school varsity, but also sports clubs outside of school, which led me to compete in several local and international tournaments. As well as my passion for sports, I grew into my passion for service; service for others and for my school, partaking in clubs and community service activities, each endeavor playing a role in the development of my abilities and expansion of my potential…
Upon completing high school, I plan to attend Austin Community College, ACC, to earn a degree in Diagnostic Medial Sonography. My plan is to settle down in a city the size of Bryan/College Station, Texas when I finish college; therefore, I am hoping the job market will allow this. My passion is to work in the field of obstetrics. I cannot think of a more exciting event than seeing life form before it enters the world. I want to enjoy seeing the excitement on parents faces when they view their unborn child or find out the sex of that child.…
Upon enrolling in high school I realized that I could no longer put an average effort into easy class work and be rewarded with academic satisfaction. After joining the honors course along with band and the FFA, it was revealed to me that high school was a different culture than middle school. I quickly discovered that hard work would be required to be successful in everything I will ever do. Band demanded countless hours of practice, but I ultimately gained first chair in the top band, as well as squad leader over the trumpet section. Like band, the FFA required hours of dedication, but I distinguished myself from other FFA members.…
In my freshman year of high school, I was placed into only one honors class, despite a strong academic record from junior high. Given my love of learning and excellence, I was exceedingly disappointed. Therefore, with the same resolution that I applied to my sports ambitions, I committed to my class time and homework. I met with my teachers when I had questions and tackled the material with energy and intensity. My efforts paid off!…
Part One: Career Search I am interesting in becoming an ultrasound technician because it sounds like an easy job, that wouldn’t be too stressful. It is also a job that you wouldn’t have to worry about when you go home, your day ends when you get off work. The job pays well but when I have done a little bit of research on it before it has said that it depends on where you work, if you work in a hospital or an office. I don’t know much about being or becoming an ultrasound technician…
Glen Este High School Athletic Boosters Scholarship During my freshmen year at Glen Este High School, I was a part of the volleyball team. From being involved in athletics, even though it was just for a year, I have learned valuable life lessons such as teamwork, confidence, and has promoted me to carry out an active lifestyle. First of all, from playing volleyball, I began to value teamwork since it taught me how to collaborate with a group of people working towards a common goal. This lesson I’ve learned has helped me in group work in my classes and in the various community service projects I participated in throughout high school. Secondly, I have grown self-confidence from pushing my potential by trying my hardest during my high…
I have personally grow as an individual since I took my first steps into high school, from only worrying about school to becoming more involved in my community. Academics has always and will always be my number one focus, but it will not be my only focus. My only focus fas a freshman was my grades because I did not think I could handle extracurricular activities while maintaining excellent grades; however, I was wrong. As the end of freshman year approached, I decided to try out for volleyball and expand my knowledge and interests, which have sparked my involvement in other extracurricular activities my junior year, joining student council, National Honor Society, and DECA. Student council has prepared me for real life situations and has taught…
Teddy Roosevelt once said that nothing worth having comes easy. With this in mind, I have actively spent my high school years working to ensure that my success and achievements are fruits of hard work and perseverance, rather than sheer luck. These past four years, I have dedicated my young mind to absorbing the valuable knowledge that pools before me in my rigorous AP courses. In addition, I also invested a good portion of my time into my school’s band program. Although balancing academics and such a demanding extracurricular activity was difficult, I managed to find the time to also participate in very rewarding organizations such as National Honor Society, among others.…
