Career Day speakers are chosen to talk about the careers that us students are interested in. The speakers are supposed to tell us all about the job in which they are speaking upon. I went to an Educational Careers session to learn more about being a teacher, which is something I am very interested in. After my experience at the Educational Careers session, I notice that the speaker, Steven Bruder, was a good speaker that talked about the wrong things.
Mr. Bruder, started out the session by asking each student what school they were from. This took up a good ten minutes of our session. Right away I could

Throughout my educational career I have had several great teachers. To choose my best teacher is difficult for me since each teacher was for a different course and they had a unique personality and style of teaching. Overall, I would have to choose Mr. Poska as my best teacher (not necessarily my favorite teacher). I took AP Calculus I & II with him during my junior year of high school, then I took Calculus III with him in my senior fall semester. I also happened to have him as my junior and senior advisor during Connect.…

The population I most enjoy working is the ageing. I've volunteered at various care facilities for the past five years. At Timberhill Place, I predominantly talk with the residents on how their lives are going and what their aspirations are. Considering my career goal is to become an occupational therapist, having time to spend speaking with a population that often utilizes occupational therapy is very very valuable. In addition to this, I simply enjoy talking with the elderly.…

Throughout my high school career, I have acquired a great amount of experience in preparation for many of the aspects of a successful college career. For example, I have developed a deeper understanding of the value of an education and have worked hard to receive money to fund my education. My family has always taught independence; thus, obtaining the funds for my education has been solely my responsibility. I have no other help, except scholarships and financial aid. I feel this scholarship suits me because I am not one to give up until my goals are attained and, currently, my goal is to have little to no student debt when graduating from college.…

When walking into the Career Fair I had dueling nerves, both of fear and excitement. I felt confident, looked professional, and set out to make connections. Having gone into the career center office two weeks prior, I was able to settle my nerves and format an approach when talking to recruiters that included not just looking for an internship but rather get the ball rolling with different networking skills. As I looked around the fair, the recruiters seemed much more approachable than I expected to talk to which served as a challenge in my mind.…

This week 's reading was all about motivation. How does one stay motivated after continual repetition of the same actions? After being with a company for several years, you are probably set and established in your role. You know exactly what needs to be done from day to day, how much time to allot to tasks, where you can and can 't take shortcuts, and you know exactly what to do should a problem arise. Depending the job, you might have slight variations in your day, stemming from interactions with patients or customers, but how can you still find happiness within the monotony of your generic daily work routines?…
