Essay On Career Fair

The first time I went to the career center was in my sophomore year. I was extremely stressed about declaring my major since this decision would determine the course of my future career. My indecisiveness began inhibiting my academic progress due to enrolling in irrelevant classes. It was during this walk-in that I first met Kay. Her friendliness helped ease the anxiety I felt about my situation and allowed me to comfortably disclose my thoughts, fears, and opinions. Kay understands that choosing a career depends on various factors; therefore, she learned about my interests through asking questions beyond my educational and career aspirations. For this session, she suggested completing the focus tool, which I was completely unaware of. …show more content…
Similar to her individual counseling sessions, she spoke articulately, presented the information with passion, and employed relatable examples. On the day of the career fair, Kay continued to provide support by taking it upon herself to search for companies I would be interested in. This is only one example of Kay’s devotion to supporting her students. Another example includes this summer when I met with Kay to discuss internship resources. I was astonished when she found a job and internship database for non-profit organizations. This was exactly what I was looking for! Although she is familiar with school resources, she also takes her personal time to search for additional resources catered to her student’s interests and goals.
Kay is an exemplary career counselor whom continually goes the extra mile to guide and support even her most indecisive students, such as myself. Thanks to Kay’s guidance I was able to experience opportunities that has helped me grow personally, intellectually, and professionally. I have benefitted greatly through her work and had fun the entire time. I am thankful for Kay’s support in motivating me to achieve my potential. Since I will be graduating this fall, I hope I can continue to see Kay for the next five years after
