Career As A Social Worker: A Career Analysis

Sociology is the systematic study of relationships among people. Meaning, that the behavior of others are influenced by people’s social, political, occupational, and intellectual groupings. With a degree in sociology, it provides many different choices in a career field. One of the most common jobs for this degree is a social worker, family supporter, or a community development worker. In my case I decided to go into nursing, which does involve time interacting with social workers. For example, say that there is a situation that I am dealing with a patient about the age of 6. Now lets say that the child had been mistreated and neglected from her family. Due to the mistreatment the child had received, I would have to also work with the social worker in order to care for the child and to make sure that while caring for him or her there is no conflict and it is a safe environment to heal. I take a lot of interest in this field because I believe that I am able to help a lot of people in this society. Not just by myself but as a team with other nurses, doctors, and social workers. For instance, a family would be able to grow together in an emotional state in their relationship. Children would be assisted to not only challenge their problems at home but out in society as well. Since there are many cases of children struggling not just at home but in school with their assignments and friends. These workers help parents and children cope with their issues and work through them in different unique ways that fits the individual’s personality. From all these examples and from all that I have said about this career field, it allows me to think very well. This topic expands my mind to think about why I want to study and continue this degree.
