The rest of my life is just ahead and I know the path that I must take. I must be willing to adapt to new circumstances and learn to work better with others. I know my strengths and weaknesses decide my future career and life outside of education. This assessment was the breath of fresh air that made me realize that getting a career is much different from getting a job. A job is something that you do for money and not necessarily because you want the job. A career is meant for a lifetime, it's meant to be what you've always dreamed of doing and a career highlights all your strengths unlike a job which you may have to conform to.
After completing this assessment, it has shown me that every career requires a certain amount of adaptability because life isn't always cut and dry. Every career allows you to take something away benefits from it. The acknowledgement of this will lead you to the realization that when you take something, you must give back or it is an imbalance. Giving back doesn't mean just doing your job, it means to overcome your weaknesses and improve your work ethic. In return, you get to improve yourself and also you get recognition for what you are willing to do. When you step back and take a look, you will see

Careers are made to suit your thoughts and beliefs. That's why picking the right career is very significant to your own well-being. For example, if i were to pick a career dealing with equations and statistics, I would be leading myself into a career of logic which would mean stress for me. Although, if I were to enjoy the career of an author or a social worker, I would be passionate about it because it involves me using emotions to work through it. Depending on your job, you may work with your hands or your brain, but either way I believe that you should love what you do in order to work

I’m willing to date myself by quoting a Woodstock-era folk song because if you haven’t looked around the Logistics Readiness Officer (LRO) career field lately, suffice to say that the times are changing and it’s exciting! After a decade of trial and error, the 21R career field has gotten serious about how to develop the next generation of commanders. Bureaucratic and cultural obstacles are steadily being eroded and senior leaders in the 21R career field are developing strategies and making long-term investments into the professional development of our junior LROs. “…Over the past decade, the science of happiness has received a fair bit of attention, because, of course, everyone would like to be happier, and probably more now than ever because studies show modern living is depressing” (Tosin Thompson, New Statesman “The pursuit of happiness”). In Malcolm Gladwell’s TED talk, “Choice, Happiness, and Spaghetti Sauce,” he discusses the reasons why having choices will allow people to be happier. Gladwell explains that when you do have the option to choose different products there is no such thing as a bad product, but a choice for someone else. He also describes that when you go to restaurants there is always a certain way a dish should be made and that no other way was right. Gladwell uses this analogy to…

To elaborate further on social cognitive career theory (SCCT), Hackett, Lent and Brown (2000) discussed strategies for which SCCT counselors should navigate through their clients’ career obstacles. First, Hackett et al. (2000) stated that SCCT focuses on the interaction of individual aspects such as self-efficacy, result outcomes, and future goals, and how those interactions contribute to career development (Hackett, Lent, & Brown, 2000). To begin their evaluation, the authors analyzed environmental factors from a SCCT perspective (Hackett et al., 2000). When examining career development through a SCCT lens, there are two major factors that influence it, (i.e., objective and observed environmental factors; Hackett et al., 2000).…

A career assessment is a process of assessing your interests, skills, personality traits, and values. By conducting career assessments in these four areas, I would likely to discover which careers best fit me. We did something similar in our seminar called self assessment. The assessment ended up showing us our weaknesses and strengths in which we could further look into the careers that would pertain to those…
