Career Admissions Essay

I always viewed my academics as a step forward to my career, which is why I always strived to receive A’s and B’s. I never really viewed extracurricular activities as a step closer to achieving my main goal. I just enjoyed participating in clubs such as FFA, Octathlon, and Caribbean heritage society. I began to think how these clubs have molded me into who I am now. They changed me into an open, accepting, outgoing person, and helped me with deciding to become a teacher and soon a counselor. I’ve excelled in school since I can remember. At first I just knew that I needed to make good grades in school. I didn’t really think of my career until my junior year. In Career Development teams you have to study plants with your team and learn to identify them when just a leaf or branch is given to you. Thanks to this event I learned to work better with others and managed to balance my school and Career development work. This is similar to Octathlon. In Octathlon you and your team have to study different subjects that revolve around on main subject. It was difficult learning to manage work, but like the Career Development events it taught me time management. Also it helped me cooperate better with others. Then there is Caribbean Heritage Society this club taught me to not follow stereotype of cultures, and to embrace ideals of other cultures. Similar to the other clubs it taught me time management, and it even helped me with leadership. I have the role of historian in this club, and that means that I have to keep track of all the events that happen in the club. Occasionally I have to direct people to finish certain tasks to make sure the club functions
