One example as to how the U.K is trying to adjust its funding and staffing problems is by its Care Quality Commission (CQC) responding to criticism they have received from nurses through surveys. Such criticism as their response time to staffing issues, missed deadlines for provider registration, approval of actual versus faculty staffing level ratios, and few inspections done annually that put a freeze on hiring. v All of these problems are vital issues in the LTC for the elderly setting in that the CQC has the power to impose fines, freeze staffing, suspend services, and prosecute organizations, providers and nurses.
