Care Club Reflection

Improved Essays
I will first start with my after school activities I currently am in. I have been in Care Club for three years and I also have been voted captain of Care Club. In Care Club our mission is to spread cultural awareness. We also have voluntary events and often collaborate with other clubs to do projects. This year we are doing We scare Hunger with We Act. We Scare Hunger is that during Halloween instead of trick or treating we instead get nonperishable food items and donate them to our local food charity. But Care Clubs signature is that it’s famous for the once a year cultural week. We start the …show more content…
I absolutely love speech and my teammates. Because of speech I’m never afraid to voice my opinions regardless of social pressure, and I’m so glad I acquired that skill. I have been in We Act for two years, and it was educational because I found new ways to help people. Maybe that’s why I also love volunteering too? It’s so weird but I’m also in Upward Bond and I love when we do highway clean up. Or go to churches to help the elderly clean the buildings. Although I stop a last year because of my busy schedule, I have been voluntary babysitting five straight years. I would babysit around three to six hours weekdays and four hours on weekends. Their coworkers and boss usually disapprove of this, so parents could really use the help. But one of my highlight of volunteering was when I had a free period class and I become a teacher 's aid for Miss Sebastian 's at Apollo High school. I didn 't get any credits but it really didn 't matter to

Volunteering at Veterans Affairs Medical Center was one of the greatest experience I've ever had. Sitting down with the elderly and getting to know them, I noticed if more teens could actually sit down and take the time to talk to an elderly person they could gain an opulent amount of knowledge. Sitting down and getting to talk an innumerable amount of veterans as I could, I was intrigued by how each person had a story of their own going through WWII. Voluntarily, I was able to contribute to the organization by having open conversations with the veterans, providing beverages, and having a great time. It wasn't till the end of the program when my perception began to change about the organization I volunteered for, it's more than just about kids…
