Client Care Clinic Reflection

The semester 3 clients care clinic started off as very nerve-racking experiences for me but slowly turned into more exciting and comfortable. Through these semesters there was a lot of important information that we have all earned and it is important to bring it all together to be successful in clinics. We have also learned about dental hygiene process of care model and that is a significant aspect in client care clinics. As we started clinic in week 2 I found that my time management skills were not as good. I found myself wasting time and not using it efficiently but as more clinics happened, I got better and was able to do things in advanced, which really helped. As I started completing my health history, setting up, probing it all started coming back to me from semester 1/2 and having my DH2 work on me. It started off by Maria teaching us about how to check the rad machines and if they are are working correctly. She used a step wedge that showed different densities and if it matched a previously taken rad it was good for use with clients. She also showed us which barriers to use with the sensors and how to set up the rooms. We were then able to do it for all the rooms so it would be ready for students who needed to take rads. Working in rad had its advantages since we will be taking many rads with clients, we were able to see many people with different needs and we learned a lot. It was also a review with asepsis techniques and making sure not to cross contaminate. It was nice to meet a lot of new people and how they reacted to students taking x-rays on them and them having questions based on their xrays and why they were being taken. It was also a good experience since next year we will not have help from students but we will need to set up, take rads and tear down
