Our Hewlett-Packard desktop computer run on the Windows 8.1 operating system. An advantage that comes with the desktop is Windows 8.1 which can better help the employees, and our interns train, visualize, and do some hands on work with the aid of the technology (Neild 1). There are so many aspects to the healthcare field that affect the “Iron Triangle”. It is up to us as healthcare manager to know healthcare in and out so we can implement and decide what direction we need to direct our staff everyday.. We need to understand the impact modern medicine has, why healthcare cost is rising, what major issues we are facing, understanding Medicaid and Medicare and the current state of national health policy. If we were to change one thing it would have to be that there would be a cap on how things are charged so that people were not overcharged for something just because the doctor can. This would help the health care system so much in having a budget to plan for national epidemics.…

Computed Tomography (CT), also commonly referred to as a CAT scan, is a medical imaging method that combines multiple X-ray projections taken from different angles to produce detailed cross-sectional images of areas inside the body. CT images allow doctors to get very precise, 3-D views of certain parts of the body, such as soft tissues, the pelvis, blood vessels, the lungs, the brain, the heart, abdomen and bones. CT is also often the preferred method of diagnosing many cancers, such as liver, lung and pancreatic cancers. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a medical imaging technology that uses radio waves and a magnetic field to create detailed images of organs and tissues. MRI has proven to be highly effective in diagnosing a number of…

    X-Rays Vs Ct Scans

CT scanners and X-ray machines are extremely similar in relation to the absorption and display of x-rays as they are both able to display bone. However, an x-ray is usually done when dealing with bones rather than a CT scan as x-rays can detect denser materials better. When the x-ray is being done a black photographic film is placed behind the part of the body that is being scanned and when the x-ray beams hit this part of the body, the bones block the x-ray beams meaning the blocked image is shown as white on the photographic film. Extremely dense or solid structures (such as bone) don’t allow any or allow very little x-ray energy to be absorbed meaning they are shown on the photographic film clearly and any problem can clearly be seen. Problems associated with bones and teeth such as fractured or broken bones can be detected, problems with the joints like gaps between two joints can be detected, changes of density within organs can be detected as tumours or blocked up organs are shown to have shadows and collection of liquid can also be detected again as shadows would be seen on the photographic film.…

Demonstrate safe and appropriate use of health care and information technologies in the delivery of nursing care. At Saunders Medical Center, the nurses told me that they must do ongoing technological education, such as e-learning courses to help gain the knowledge of forever changing technology in the medical field. According to Sweeney (2010), all nurses should be aware of new technology in the workplace and they must gain knowledge when designing, implementing, and updating their software, especially for the electronic medical record (EMR). If the system is not updated, then this could cause lag in the system or possibly delayed information to the other interdisciplinary team members (Sweeney, 2010).…

Although sputum is the most common diagnostic specimen to detect pneumonia, there are still many other respiratory specimens that could be utilised (van’t Wout, 1989), such as a pleural fluid culture. Pleural fluid is taken from a space between two layers of the lung, referred to as the pleural. This fluid is removed via a procedure called thoracentesis. This technique is applied to understand the reason for fluid build-up within the chest cavity, thus, can aid in the diagnosis of pneumonia. Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) may also be used to assist in the diagnosis of pneumonia (Scholte, 2014).…

Modern Surgical procedures are not ideal in terms of efficiency, invasiveness, and reliability. Surgeries involve a large staff working in concert, sometimes over the better part of a day and with minimal rest. Surgeons can become fatigued during long surgeries, possibly experiencing hand tremors and reduced mental faculty as a result. Moreover, a great deal of pain, bleeding, and trauma results from conventional methods of surgery. For instance, traditional heart bypass surgery requires that the patient's chest be "cracked" open in a huge incision.…
