In the United States, Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) remains the greatest common cause of death. Cardiovascular Diseases, also known as the common heart diseases, are any conditions that involve blocked blood vessels that can lead to either a heart attack or other heart problems. The common types of CVD are coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, stroke, and arrhythmia. CVD is a major disease that will not show any symptoms until the disease is at its extreme. Yet numerous adults stay unaware of the risk factors and the precautions to prevent CVD. Young adults in particular do not realize the harm they are doing to their bodies now and are increasing their risks of getting CVD. Many young adults are too busy with school or work to worry about enduring in activities in order to prevent CVD. Also, a number of women are unaware that they have a higher risk of getting CVD than men. In this paper, I will discuss deliberately about how adults should inform themselves about what cardiovascular disease is, what the risk factors are, and how to prevent it. I will also inform the reader of statistics about CVD and the cost for CVD treatment.
