There have been diseases associated with the heart known as cardiovascular disease, “cardio” meaning heart. A group of doctors presented that low levels of growth factor, also known as stem cell factor (SCF), are linked to higher risk of cardiovascular diseases. In their studies, it has been brought to light that people who smoked and had diabetes acquired lower levels of SCF in their circulation. The doctors experimented with around 380 patients in the first coronary event. Stem cells with the function to convert to mature vascular cells has been known for a while.
