This clip should echo the past in that Lucretia’s final words are shown through the eyes of Brutus. After she passes, he takes her body into the streets and expresses a monologue intended to rally his fellow Romans. However, Brutus should not simply spew words. The camera should detail his struggle to this point. Brutus is moving around in the crowd, truly connecting with them. Minimum special effects will need to be utilized during the scene, however the score and lighting should both play a crucial role in complementing the atmosphere of the scene. The score should start off slowly, with great tension, as the light as are slightly dimming than usual. Then, as the speech reaches its climax, the music begins a grand crescendo and the lighting becomes clear; at the same time, the camera should pan upwards to show the Romans ready to earn the virtue of libertas.
A movie based upon the life of Brutus would be an honor to his legacy. Not only is his overall character interesting, his story demonstrates values that should be at the core of every society.
