Carbon copy or Copycat was born on December 22, 2001. This cat is the first cloned pet. It was cloned by placing DNA from a cat (a female cat, rainbow, three different colors) into an egg cell that had its nucleus removed. Then this embryo was implanted into Allie (the surrogate mother). CC is a white domestic shorthair and a brown tabby. The surrogate mother was also a tabby; however her donor (Rainbow) was a calico domestic shorthair. In other words, Rainbow the cat was a normal calico with spots of tan, gold and brown. CC has gray fur over white. This proves that although the cats have the same DNA, they use it differently. Even personality wise, both cats are very different.
