Gymnastics is a sport that involves an ideal timing, concentrated focus and power, also requires a lean, muscular body; it is an anaerobic sport that needs short, intense burst of power1. Therefore, healthy nutrition is extremely essential for this sport in order to build muscle and for quick access to energy, avoiding food high in fat is vital. In this case, for Alexis and her parents, planning is essential and preparing and purchasing healthy food ahead of time when they are less busy is crucial to maintain a lean muscle she requires as a gymnast. The recommended carbohydrates for gymnast is 50-60 percent of complex carbohydrate foods such as fruits, vegetables, low fat dairy products, brown rice, whole wheat bread, and high fiber
