This painting showed Jesus Christ separating the Saved towards the left side of the scene, all of whom are surrounded by billowy clouds and angels, and the Damned being dragged into a pit towards the right. It was the coloring of this painting that initially caught my attention. First of all, Jesus is shown in a brilliant red robe, making him a strong focal point. Perugino’s Christ Giving the Keys to St. Peter and Gentile Bellini’s Procession of the Relic of the True Cross before the Church of St. Mark were painted fifteen years apart and in different parts of Italy (Venice and Rome), but both paintings use similar technique to convey depth in efforts to replicate and service the human gaze on a two dimensional surface. Both paintings demonstrate use of linear perspective to achieve this. There is a horizon line with a vanishing point in both pieces, Perugino’s painting employs a horizon line which cuts the painting all the way across to delineate where Earth ends and the sky begins, Bellini’s painting is a bit different in that the horizon line does not go all the way across the painting, but instead…

According to the video of Caravaggio, it shows the history of him since he was just a child and how he spent his time or entire life on creating several artworks. After I watched this video, I totally think that he tried to convey his own experiences for his long life by passing them through his artworks. Not just only his personal experience, his artworks also shows how he arranged and organized all elements to be more symmetry and balance at the same time. For overall Caravaggio’s artworks, therefore, make the audience feel more participated like they were…
