Everyday people are also contributors to emotional distress of captive animals. When people want an exotic pet because they are “cute” or “cool” you have to consider what you are committing to. Many people have nocturnal exotic pets and they want to play with their pet so they will wake them but, they end up disrupting their sleeping habits and its damaging. Many exotic animals are also social so when they are put in captivity and in homes that only allow social interaction with their owners. Nearly all the primates in the pet trade are taken from the wild which takes them from their families and breaking their social bonds with other primates they bonded with in the wild. Raising a wild exotic animal in captivity is a lot of responsibility
