Pontius Pilate asked Jesus this same question in John 18:38, “What is truth?” Captial-T True is, according to wallace, an attitude and state of mind. It is simply an opportunity to, “decide how you’re gonna try to see it.” In this case, “IT” being any given situation a person might encounter during any given day. It is a conscious decision to be willing to look at tough, mundane, boring, and repetitive situations from a worldview other than the normal. A facet of Capital-T Truth is that, “it is about life before death().” Life before death implies action with a purppose. Wallace, in his speech, is implying that life before death is a series of actions willed upon by decisions that are made. To be alive is to be conscious. According to wallace, when operating on default settings, i.e. to be unconsious, we are choosing death. Finally, it is an acceptance of the fact that we, individually, are not the center of the universe which correlates to the next point regarding self worship.

According to scripture Jesus Claims in John 14:6 that He is, “The way, the truth and the life.” The key word being, Truth.So what does Capital T Truth mean for a christian? It means to pursue Christ, who is The Truth. Along with this aspect comes the aspect of life. Jesus, not only says He is the Truth, but He is also the Life. As discussed before, to be conscious is to be alive, therefore if Christ is life, then to be in Him is life for a christian.This life is an everlasting life.
In conclusion, Wallace 's’ speech, although rather dreary at times, is an important one. It is a wake up call to present and future graduates. It is a call to rise above expectations set by the culture. Worship what matters. Instead of worshiping money, show generosity. Instead of physical beauty, recognize inner beauty.
