Captain Blood is a story based on 17th century in England. Have you even seen/heard that physician turns into captain, fights the pirates and go against the government to have freedom? This story has adventure, action, romance, comedy with some suspense drama. Captain Blood, this wonderful tale is by Vidas Barzdukas. The story has been adapted from the novel by Rafaek Sabatini, its envision by John S. Kuhn and directed by Philip J. Hickman. This play was performed by the “Actors’ Theater of Columbus” in Columbus, Ohio. Each cast members did brilliant performance by performing their role. Main cast of this play was played by James Harper – his character was ‘Peter Blood’ – his performance build on the fateful accidents of history as well as a deep wellspring of humanity. Each of the actors has done good job by grabbing the attention of the audience. It has capture audience till the end; yes there were some parts that can be overlooked such as perfect accent that was spoken. Based on the story, the language or accent involvement on this play were Dutch, France, Spanish, Pirate Accent and British English. The play was lacking on the accent but it can be overlooked since the acting was good.
At last this play was more appropriate for all ages because it gives message to be stronger, fight for your rights and help persons who needs it. As a physician, there duty is to save everyone’s life without differing them and that’s what Blood did. This play has more intelligent and long dialogs that is hard to perform for a regular person so actors had done great job doing that. The creation of Captain Blood by ‘Actors’ Theater of Columbus’ made enjoyable and watchable by its music and sound, lighting, costumes and acting. Overall it was one of the appreciated performances by the actors and
