Captain America Research Paper

Captain America and Iron Man circle hesitantly, ready for a fight. Punches are thrown; Iron Man’s suit is activated; Captain America flings his mighty shield about. But this fight is different for them. Instead of fighting a common enemy, they are fighting each other. In Captain America: Civil War the Avengers break apart as a team, due to different views for the future of their career. Iron Man and Captain America lead the two sides. Although Captain America and Iron Man are similar in many ways, there are also some differences, particularly in the subject of getting the government involved with their work. At the beginning of Captain America: Civil War, the Avengers are being blamed for mass casualties of innocent bystanders who could not be saved while they were trying to save the world. “If we sign this, we surrender our right to choose,” said Chris Evans as Captain America in the movie. He might be feeling that this a step toward fascism, which is what he fought against in the first Captain America movie. In addition, he knows the Avenger’s job is to save as many people as possible and they might not be able to be there every time that they are needed if they sign the Socovia Accords. Captain America tells Wanda in the movie, “This job we try to save as many people as we can. Sometimes that doesn’t mean everybody, but if we can’t find a way to live with that maybe next time no one gets saved.” This doesn’t mean that he doesn’t feel the guilt like everyone else. Regardless of what Iron Man and the world are saying, he holds on to his beliefs strongly.
