Capstone Project Course Reflection

Decent Essays
The Capstone seminar and project course gave me a wide understanding of the whole MPA program, which include: teamwork, research, writing, analysis, decision making, problem-solving and oral presentations. It helped in providing me as a MPA student with the opportunity to integrate knowledge and skills learned in the MPA program in an applied practical examination of a public administration issue, which was about the factors that impact the U.S 50 states public higher education appropriations.

In all cases, this course has encouraged me to think about finding ways to know how to succeed in learning. I have learned how is it significant to be an active member in a group research. I learned how to think carefully about my ideas and thoughts before expressing my opinion directly to discuss it with the group. Likewise, learning not only from books but also from each other. Lastly, the course made me think about how I think and how to use the experience and knowledge that I have gained from the MPA program effectively.

Joining the New Visions program was one of the wisest decisions I have made. When nurses that I shadow at Unity Hospital express how jealous they are that they didn’t have a program like this when they were in high school, it reminds me to take advantage of this opportunity that not every student receives. I am confident that when I graduate college, I will be able to recollect this program, and how it led me to be successful. I will reminisce about the long hours dedicated to each college-level assignment in determination to receive a grade in the high 90’s, or that moment when I witnessed a five pound baby be born from a cesarean delivery, or even when I stood next to the operating table observing a total knee replacement surgery, while the surgeon and nurses took the time to teach me about what they were doing--an opportunity that not even college nursing students were able to see. Every assignment I completed, conversation I had, and person I met, has transformed me into a more educated and open minded student.…

Reflection Paper II Throughout my college experience here in the Carroll School of Management, group work and the ability to work well with others has been emphasized greatly. This makes sense, because in a professional environment, the ability to communicate, listen and contribute within a group leads to success and the achievement of goals. However, none have gone on as long as this project, making it a more realistic example of working on a team. Junior year of college is definitely a crazy time, as we are forced to balance heavy workloads with extracurriculars and recruiting.…

I was able to learn that when working in a group project a good bond and health relationship is essential in order to make things work. Another is that while working on the S.A.R.A and C.P.T.E.D projects, group participation and collaboration made things more easier. For instance, when one of the group members had an idea and shared it with the group the group took that idea into consideration in order to make the idea better. Another thing that I learned was that when working with others one must carry one’s weight and share one’s ideas no matter how dumb they may seem. Further I was able to understand that being a police officer is not just about stopping a crime, it is also about figuring out a way to find a permanent solution for such problems.…

By helping, supporting and motivating each other it made the project easier to solve and it helped us in achieving our work in the most effective time and ways. Here are some points I loved about the experience, firstly being a part of a group helped in developing my skills and we were able to achieve more work than in working individually. Secondly, we had more time to manage and plan. Thirdly I developed more communicating skills and team commitment and also I had more exchange of information between myself and our group members.…
