Capital Punishment
The electric chair. Lethal injection. Judicial murder. These are all names for capital punishment. Capital punishment is as old as human civilization. The severe punishment of death has been used by most, if not all of civilization throughout time. The French had the guillotine, the Romans had crucifixion, and the Egyptians drowned their criminals in the Nile river. But even if most civilizations supported it does that make it right? Most would say the use of capital punishment shouldn’t be allowed.

Most people in society live in would agree that this is not. Many things are wrong with capital punishment and here are some just to list a few,” Is it ever morally justified to deliberately take the life of any person, Does the value of capital punishment justify its cost and the diversion of scarce resources from efforts to fight crime or rehabilitate criminals, and how often are innocent persons executed by mistake? Is the execution of the innocent a necessary price to pay for the security of society”(Henderson 1). This brings up the point of how innocent people are sometimes killed for times they didn't even do. Also not all executions go as planned like the April 22, 1983 execution of John Evans:”... electricity was applied to Evans' body but immediately there was an explosion of sparks and flames from the electrode strapped to his leg. Then the electrode itself broke away from the strap and caught fire. There were more explosions and smoke and sparks erupted out of the hood covering Evans' head. To establish his condition, two doctors examined him and discovered that Evans was still alive”(Banks 1). Instead of the quick death, he was supposed to get he was burned alive by his electric chair. The innocent and undeserving suffered enough from capital punishment and it needs to be
