The Use of Capital Punishment Unfortunately crime is inevitable and it happens so regularly that we have become accustomed to it. However, this does not have to be the case when it comes to the unjustified process of capital punishment. Still today, the ancient quote “an eye for an eye” found in Hammurabi’s code and the biblical story of Exodus plays as a moral guidance to many. However, is that guidance misleading when it comes to the nation’s capital punishment process? Philosopher John Locke, once stated that we all possess natural rights, therefore capital punishment is merely the premise of unlawfully taking the right of life away from an individual. Capital punishment, most known as the death penalty, strips away at the very humane and just people we were set out to be. Capital punishment puts the innocent at risk, racially discriminates against specific groups, and punishes the poor by providing inadequate legal representation. Capital punishment an unreliable and discriminatory system, therefore it should be re-evaluated with hopes of future eradication. Everyday someone commits a crime and the same goes for conviction, it happens every day.
