Role of Capital Punishment in Modern Society

The four most prominent practitioners of capital punishment include Iran, China, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq, many of which are located in the Asia-pacific region. Additionally, most countries in the Asia-Pacific region create false statistics in regards to their use of the death penalty. The processes of a fair trial for an individual are often overlooked due to the amount of money and time spent on such a task. First, noting that not all countries have agreed to the conditions included in the ICCPR, the United Kingdom strongly emphasizes the use of incentives for countries to adopt the “right to a fair trial” policy. The incentive for all countries to join the International Convention for Civil and Political Rights with the ability to participate in a North-South cooperation between two similar judicial systems, supplying the recently joined/developing country (in regards to their justice system) with means to further develop courts, judiciary practices, and sets of laws and capital punishment policies. Additionally, the use of IPRM’s or International Prison Reform Monitors will assist in providing information to both UNESCAP and ECOSOC surrounding all planned and developing prison reforms in addition to every case involving the death penalty. Representatives for this position will be staffed by Amnesty International; an organisation specializing in the promotion of human rights. In regards to the corrupt justice officials that report false death penalty records, International Prison Reform Monitors and third-party judiciary officials will be used to attend all court cases or hearings of any type that can potentially lead to the use of the death penalty. These third-party officials from the ICC (International Criminal Courts) will contribute towards reaching a verdict with the other judiciary official(s) of that respective country. Furthermore, the mandatory implementation of the Capital Punishment Restrictions and Protocol Act of 2015 under the ICCPR will ensure all countries participating in the ICCPR will follow specific instructions in carrying out all executions. Finally, noting that capital punishment is also used to strike fear in the general public, all executions will be required to be carried
