Some people see it as an eye for an eye type of ordeal, while others see it as legal murder. According to Steven Goldberg (1974), “one who supports capital punishment can foreclose further discussion by asserting that an eye must be taken for an eye, even if the taking of an eye does not deter anyone any more than would a lesser penalty.” Some people believe that having the death penalty creates a safer environment. Capital Punishment. It does not matter what the name is, it is a highly debatable subject. The point of any punishment is to try and deter or prevent others from doing the same wrong again. If someone watches someone else be put to death for killing someone, they might think twice about murdering someone, but this is not always the case.
